When On The Floor came out in early January, I liked it, but I didn’t expect it to do much. Boy was I wrong, the song became her first real hit in years, all without hitting #1 on the Hot 100, though it did on the Dance Charts. It was a formula she’d used before, catchy chorus, guest rapper, ear-candy. And she didn’t stop there, she pulled out Lil’ Weezy for a feature on the Stargate jam I’m Into You. The bright, summery single didn’t fare quite as well as it’s predecessor, peaking just outside of the Top 40, but it did hit #1 on the Dance Charts, just like OTF. Then came the promotional singles Papi and What is Love?, the latter of which is one of my favorites off the album. WIL? failed to make any impact, except on my heart, but Papi went on to become her 3rd single, also reaching to top of the Dance Charts. Though it hasn’t done much on the Hot 100 (aka peaked at 96), her recent performance at the 2011 AMA’s and promotional use of the song in Fiat commercials (in which she stars) may change that.
